About Us
Below is a history of the two engineers who make up S & M Productions and their short but broad and extensive history in the music industry.
MattMatthew McLaren is guaranteed to blow you away the moment he steps up to the keys. Not only is he a child prodigy who has been playing since the age of three. He is also an accomplished singer capable of providing backing vocals or even lead if need be. Matthew has obtained honors in his AMUSA through the Australian Music Examinations Board. As a result Matthew is well versed in a multitude of styles including classical, jazz, pop, rock, blues, latin, reggae, hip hop and any other style you can think of.
Over the years Matthew has worked with several online audio theater companies as a production engineer and has had an extensive history of recording bands.
Due to his extensive musical history and knowledge of the technical side of programming and of music in general he is able to synthesize various layers which can be performed in a live setting if need be. These parts can be not only keyboard parts but bass, guitar, synth and any other instruments which may not be acquirable on short notice. Matthew is capable of learning songs on short notice and performing them at gigs or on recordings as needed.

Scott
Scott has been in numerous bands which span a range of musical genres. Scott has received tuition from Nic Cecere, a prominent all round drummer who has done sessions for notable bands such as 'The Whitlam’s and is also a teacher at the Conservatorium of music in Sydney. He has also studied with Darren Brollo, founding member of the DB Music Academy here in Newcastle.
Scott is confident with all styles of drumming and percussion. He is fluent with both reading and transcription of notation and tab for a range of styles and is constantly honing his skills in this area as with all others.
He is also well versed in the electronic side of modern percussion and is proficient with the use of triggers, samples and the Octopad.
Scott has completed a music production course with the Berklee College of Music in the USA via correspondence. He has also completed his advanced diploma in Technical Production at TAFE. He is constantly honing his skills in the production realm. He is currently co-producing an audio comedy series due for release over the coming months. He is also recording an up and coming experimental rock band whilst still finding time to work on his own electronic music.
